Celebrating National Philanthropy Day — in Durham and beyond

Tomorrow is National Philanthropy Day. According to the website of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, there are more than 125 communities across the country that will host an event for National Philanthropy Day between now and the end of the month. The purpose of the day is to:

to recognize and pay tribute to the great contributions that philanthropy—and those people active in the philanthropic community—have made to our lives, our communities and our world….

Through your generosity, billions of dollars and volunteer hours are given every year to countless nonprofits and charities around the world.

In Durham, the members of the 20/20 Sisters of Vision are hosting a reception and party at the Southwest Public Library on Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. View the pingg.com invitation for more details and to RSVP for the 20/20 Sister’s event.

Earlier this year, multiple CIN members expressed interest and ideas to hold local events for National Philanthropy Day. We congratulate the 20/20 Sisters for sticking with their plans to do so.(be sure to send us some photos!)

We hope that  more circles in the Network can design actions and joints events in 2012.
